Supporting People with Dementia
This module was designed by Alzheimer’s Australia (Vic) for nurses wishing to improve their knowledge of the effects of neurocognitive disorder (formerly known as dementia) and strategies to better support people with dementia in their care. The key learning objectives are to help you identify the specific needs of a person with dementia in the acute care setting; Implement a person centred approach to support people with dementia; Apply the problem solving approach; Behavioural and Psychological Symptoms of Dementia (BPSDs); and Identify the benefits of a palliative approach to care.
