A pallative approach for aged care
This seminar focuses on skill development for palliative and aged care nurses wishing to provide best practice end-of-life care for older people in any setting. The emphasis of a palliative approach will be on the slow decline experienced by many older people with chronic illnesses which are not amenable to cure. The final phase of life will also be addressed, with information on pain and symptom management drawn from the latest research. Ethical issues will be covered as they affect end-of-life care, and a holistic approach will include psycho-social, emotional and spiritual components of care, as well as physical.
