Strengthening EN medication practice

This seminar will assist enrolled nurses to further develop and apply their skills and knowledge in the nursing practice area of medications. The learning will apply to a variety of health care settings and with reference to the professional practice framework. This seminar also aims to build upon skills and knowledge attained through completion of the nationally accredited units associated with NMBA approved enrolled nurse medication administration requirements and work practice.

Following completion of this seminar and with further learning and development participants will be able to:

  1. Apply the professional practice framework to medication practice, including guidelines and codes which define safe, professional nursing practice
  2. Assess and describe their own scope of practice in a variety of medication practice situations
  3. Discuss delegation and supervision within the medication practice context
  4. Access and use appropriate resources to support safe medication practice
  5. Describe accountabilities and limitations placed upon Enrolled Nurse medication practice as imposed by relevant legislation, the professional practice framework and organisational policy and procedures
  6. Identify strategies to avoid medication errors
  7. Identify best practice in a number of areas relevant to their own work place context of medication practice
