IV cannulation for registered nurses and midwives



This seminar will focus on the process and procedure for inserting peripheral IV in the adult patient. It includes an overview of relevant anatomy, selection of insertion sites and cannula, insertion techniques, infection control, common problems and corrective action. Identification of appropriate equipment and specific cannulation techniques will also be covered.
Participant practice will be conducted utilising manikin simulation.
This course is suitable for registered nurses, enrolled nurses and midwives.
Please note: This course is currently scheduled to be delivered face to face at ANMF Victorian Branch, 535 Elizabeth Street, Melbourne. Face to face delivery is subject to change dependent on the COVID-safe conditions and restrictions in place on the course delivery date.
