Breaking the ice on the central venous access device
This workshop is aimed to develop and/or extend your knowledge and skills to care safely for patients with central venous access devices (CVADs). The devices covered in this workshop will mostly include CVCs and PICCS. Other devices discussed to lesser detail will include hickmans, vascaths, permacath and portacaths. This workshop will also include various elements of nursing care and management, starting from initial care post insertion, nursing assessment, dressing and valve changes, medication administration, blood sampling, and CVAD removal. You will have the opportunity to practice these skills in our simulated ward environment.
This course is suitable for registered nurses and midwives.
Please note: This course is currently scheduled to be delivered face to face at ANMF Victorian Branch, 535 Elizabeth Street, Melbourne. Face to face delivery is subject to change dependent on the COVID-safe conditions and restrictions in place on the course delivery date.
