Don't panic, it's only a tracheostomy

This workshop is aimed to develop and/or extend your knowledge and skills to care safely for adult patients requiring a tracheostomy. It will cover various elements of nursing care and management, starting from initial post-operative care, and all the way through to decannulation. Topics will include stoma care, inner cannula and tape changes, suctioning, communicating, transporting, recognising clinical deterioration and emergency procedures, as well as weaning. You will have the opportunity to practice these skills in our simulated ward environment.
