This seminar has been designed to enhance the professional development of critical care nurses requiring knowledge and skills to manage ventilated patients. It takes the learner on a journey from understanding respiratory physiology, to utilising assessment skills such as ABG and CXR interpretation, through to current day, evidence based practice of advanced ventilation strategies formulated on landmark research papers.
Subject matter includes:
- Respiratory physiology & pathophysiology
- Using ABGs to guide therapy
- Basic interpretation of CXRs
- Oxygen therapy – from Nasal Prongs to high flow devices
- Non-Invasive Ventilation (CPAP / BiPAP)
